About Us

Noel
Mayfield-Smith

I have been in the thoroughbred industry for over 40 years and was an assistant trainer to my brother Brian at Nebo Lodge for 11 years.  I have been a professional trainer  for 28 years.  During this time, I have trained 5 Group 1 winners, over 30 stakes winners, ATC Flight Stakes – Angst,  $1 Million Stradbroke Hcp – Landsighting, the $1 million Caulfield Guineas – In Top Swing and the inaugural Toohey’s Golden Rose in 2003, which has since been granted Group 1 status, and in 2014 the G1 BTC Cup with Famous Seamus.

I am the first of two trainers to train the winner of the Princess Series with the history making filly ANGST, who won the AJC Silver Shadow Stakes, Furious Stakes, STC Tea Rose Stakes  and Flight Stakes in 1993.

In 2001, I was promoted to a No. 1 Trainer’s Licence by Racing NSW. I am hands-on trainer who is readily accessible to all my owners and I always encourage their input.  I am involved in every facet of the running of my stable.  I aim to achieve the best possible result for my owners and their horses and to provide a rewarding experience for their money spent.

My ultimate goal is to produce winners and to be honest in supplying a winning product for my owners, in the process of training their racehorses.

Emma
Mayfield-Smith

Originally from Co Kildare, Ireland, I am lucky to have been breed into a famous racing background with my father being National Hunt jockey, G W Robinson. My mother was Susan and her father Major Cyril Hall, was the Manager of the Irish National Stud, where he introduced the Stud Manager course (which runs to this day). He also worked at Gilltown Stud and Sheshoon Stud for the Aga Khan for over 20 years.

I have extensive knowledge in the racing industry, both from training establishments and stud farms in Europe, including the Irish National Stud (Stud Manager’s course), Lanwades Stud in England for Kristen Rausing and Paul de Moussac’s Haras du Mezeray in France.  I also spent 2 years in the United States working as a veterinary nurse for the major Standardbred stud, Castleton Farms.

I have also worked throughout Australia gaining experience at various stud locations including Arrowfield Stud for yearling preparation, a year with Sydney’s Wrightson Bloodstock (now New Zealand Bloodstock), 4 years with Wakefield Stud for Brian Agnew and also 2 years at Widden Stud.

I am currently a Racing NSW licenced Foreperson for my husband Noel. I am an accomplished rider who enjoys the challenge of bringing out the best in every horse in our stable care. I have an outgoing personality which compliments my husband, Noel’s cool race day demeanour and we make an excellent team.

Noel & I we love this industry, we have an honest approach to our profession, and we thoroughly respect the horses in our care.

Noel is a Multiple Group 1 winning trainer, having success with Angst, Landsighting, In Top Swing and most recently, Famous Seamus.
